Is Jarrah Honey Glyphosate Free?

Is Jarrah Honey Glyphosate Free?
Yes, good Jarrah is. Honey can only be contaminated with glyphosate (roundup) if the bees forage on plants on a farm that have been sprayed with glyphosate. Our Jarrah comes from deep in the forest so no chance of contamination. Also, Jarrah flowers in mid summer but most glyphosate spraying in in early spring. Other varieties of honey, such as Manuka honey from New Zealand and Australia, is collected from bushes close to farms so contamination is possible.

What actually is glyphosate?

Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the world. It works by interfering with a plant enzyme crucial for growth, essentially starving targeted weeds. This makes it a popular choice for farmers as it effectively eliminates unwanted plants without harming crops engineered to resist its effects. However, concerns have arisen regarding its potential impact on human health. Some studies suggest a link between glyphosate exposure and an increased risk of cancer, particularly non-Hodgkin lymphoma. While the science is still debated, and regulatory bodies generally consider glyphosate safe when used according to guidelines, the controversy highlights the ongoing need for research on the long-term effects of herbicides and other agricultural chemicals.
